10k race

by Alison on May 23, 2010

The official results from today aren’t in yet but it looks like I took almost 4 minutes off of my time from the race at Myrtle Edwards on April 26th! 🙂  I’m very happy with that.  That 10k was the first time I had run 6 miles, this time I had a 7 mile run and an 8 mile run under my belt and it helped.

It was COLD this morning.  Myrtle Edwards Park is a linear park along Puget Sound and it was super windy this morning.   We arrived  and my hands were immediately chilled walking from the car to the registration/start area.  I even decided to keep my jacket on and I haven’t run with a jacket in over a month, of course it was around my waist by the end of the first mile.  The course is very flat with an out and back to the Magnolia Bridge, twice that for the 10k.  Running along the water is really nice unless there is a stiff marine breeze that you have to run into on the return 😛  Ben was so cold he went to go sit in the car.  The rain was nice enough to stay away which was a bonus as it rained on our way to the race.  I finished dead last but I’m okay with that as there were maybe 5 women running the 10k, I’ll know when the official results come in.  After the race we went to grab Brunch.  We settled on Dahlia Lounge mostly because well their doughnuts are amazing and we didn’t really plan well yesterday where to go.  I had French Toast, Orange juice and of course 1/3 of the doughnuts (2 doughnut holes with rhubarb jam and vanilla marscapone)  The three of us sat and chatted and had a nice leisurely brunch, when we got home the dogs were obnoxious so I had to go out in the cold and play with them, (sorry puppies no walk today :P) before having a nice warm shower, felt so good.

Dinner we had Chicken and Cauliflower Tikka Masala.  I was right mixing the cauliflower right in was awesome, it gave the cauliflower more flavour and totally gave HUGE portions 🙂

Now it is time to watch the series finale of Lost, I really hope that the 11:30 end time is a mistake, come on ABC who the hell wants to be up until 11:30 on a work night???? Ugh never mind I missed last week so we have to watch that first, tomorrow for the finale.
