Mother Nature is a B*tch

Mother Nature really likes to screw with me.  My first 5k race back in January, oh yeah it was that time of the month, nice.  Today I really wanted a nice relaxing 2 mile run, no chance.  A bit less than half a mile in I got killer cramps, I kept going to the half mile mark and decided it wasn’t happening, the only good thing is that I did manage to run all the way back, an hour later cramps were gone, timing is everything.  I probably could have gone out again but I’d already showered etc so no, it didn’t happen although we did take the dogs for a longer than usual walk much to both their delight and horror, it was much warmer today than they are used to.  Oh did I mention that a tree decided to spew a pine cone on my head? REALLY???? Are you just toying with me??? B*TCH!  And now I’m worried what this will do for my weigh in tomorrow 🙁

For breakfast I made a quick batch of Kodiak cake waffles.  This mix is great it has whole grains and it’s sweetened with honey.  I upped the nutrition by adding flax seeds, which also added crunch and a nuttiness, no I really can’t leave things alone, anything can be improved on.  I used real maple syrup, I personally prefer Grade B to Grade A, grade B is more mapley and less sweet, both bonuses in my book.  For lunch we finished the Zucchini, Red Pepper and Barley Bake.  This recipe is great it lends itself to using up whatever veggies are hanging around getting close to being past their prime.  I want to see how it freezes and if it freezes well I can see making it to use up veggies then having it for easy lunches during the week.  We had lunch on the deck it was a glorious day, almost too hot in the sun (for this wimp) and I got some vitamin D!  Still taking that prescription for two more months.  After lunch we took the dogs for a nice long walk, well mostly it was long because Ben stubbed his toe the other day and is limping around so goes even slower than usual! For dinner I added the leftover cauliflower into the Tikka Masala and it was good, I would probably have it be a touch crunchier than it was when I add it in in the future and make no mistake I WILL make it this way again.
