April Mile a Day Challenge

I have mentioned my April Mile a Day Challenge a couple times and had a couple people ask what it is, so here you go.  A friend of mine did this challenge back in December and said it was really valuable so when she said she was doing it again I decided to do it as well.  For this challenge the idea is to run one mile every day, the benefit for me is the consistency.  The overall benefit is to celebrate our health, to quote the trainer running the challenge

The “monthly challenge” is all about celebrating our healthy bodies every day. Challenging yourself to do something you didn’t think you could. Move a little more. Do a little more.

Back by request! Run (or walk) one mile a day every day in the month of April. If you can, challenge yourself to run/jog the mile. If you are just starting out or have some sort of injury, feel free to walk/stroll the mile. Listen to your body and do what works for you! The picture of this event is from the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon last year. Just when I thought I couldn’t run anymore, I came up to this person in an electric wheel chair. We are TRULY BLESSED to be able to run/walk!

Don’t take your healthy body for granted…..MOVE IT!

I plan to run it since I can! And running is feeling great, I love how it makes me feel.  I don’t think that it will cause me to over train but I will watch for that.  7 days in I’m 7/7 only 23 days to go 😛  Combine this with my monthly goal of running 12 miles a week and I could be adding up some serious miles this month for this newbie runner.  I’m coming to love running, OMG I said it!  We’ll see how I feel about it at the end of April.

Ate 22 of 24 points. Earned 6 activity points.

Running Weekly totals used 23 of 35 weekly points, earned 26 activity points.

Mile a day… I love it. Go you! And looks like a great day of FOOD. I love steel cut oats… still haven’t tried chia seeds yet. Roasted broccoli: what a brilliant idea. I always steam or boil mine (boring).

Hey Alison!

Love the new blog design! 🙂 With a change in my schedule, I’m making time to read, read, read blogs (and comment more often…yay!).

So, about your epipen… I talked with hubs more about your request and we think the Armpocket would work for you. Hubs carries his iTouch in his Armpocket, with room to spare. I checked dimensions at armpocket.com and the largest version (the one I have) is 5″ in height. Seems bigger than that! Can you place your epipen diagonally in the armpocket??

I’ll ask readers via the Turtles blog and I’ll also check with my friends at my local running store… 30+ yrs of running experience – they may have an idea. Will also research online.

Thank you Robin, I have done some research as well and mostly the best I find is ways to strap it to the leg, the arm pocket might work, one of the larger ones to hold both the Epipen and the Iphone. Then i’d have something on both arms, bodybugg on one and armpocket on the other 😛 I’ll include a link to your contest in my next post. I’m sorry you can’t run at the moment but at least you get to catch up with blogs! 🙂
