Getting into the Garden March 19th Food and Exercise Journal

by Alison on March 19, 2010

Today we had yummy egg sandwiches for a late breakfast, it felt so good to sleep in.  I went to bed early and woke up late and it was great.  After our late breakfast we kicked back before going and seeing Alice in Wonderland it was pretty good.  After we got home I spent some time in the garden prepping the bed and clearing out the planters.  I added a couple of inches of compost to the bed, putting in another one next week so I will have even more space for yummy veggies.  So this bed is ready to go now, the veggie ladders and tomato cages are all ready to go, just need to get the new bed in and wait for the frost date to pass although our winter has been so mild what are the chances…

I am totally ready to go this year, the compost pile is up and running, I hope to plant enough this year to actually freeze a bunch to enjoy in the winter.  I’m going to be planting late due to having gone out of town etc BUT it will still be earlier than last year.  Cleaning out the old pots, moving and cleaning furniture and digging compost into the bed made for a good workout.  Tomorrow I want to get more compost from the garden center as the level of the bed has dropped over the winter.  The weather was so nice that we had dinner on the deck.  For dinner we had leftover Tomato-Meat Sauce over baked potatoes along with a salad  with homemade ranch dressing very tasty and it’s nice to have leftovers a different way.

I love putting stuff over baked potatoes too, especially since I discovered microwaving baked potatoes, so fast and with different exciting toppings it is always new and interesting.
