New Month’s Resolutions February

by Alison on January 31, 2010

I’m still liking the monthly resolutions, and this month I will mostly be reinforcing the ones I have picked up but I do plan to add one or two new ones.
I hope that these things that I add monthly will add up to lots of changes over the year, taken in smaller more manageable bites. So New Month’s Resolution will be a regular feature.

To review last month my resolutions were

1. To eat vegetarian completely one day a week.

2. To try a new recipe each week.

3. To enjoy some form of activity every day. Not new

4. To keep blogging and journalling. Not new This has been a great outlet and way to organise my thoughts.

5. To lose 5 pounds (may not seem like much but it’s achievable and I like focusing on 5 at a time).

6. I put the most important last. To make myself a priority, by taking care of myself I can better take care of others. I started this in 2009 now I plan to really focus on it. Taking time for exercise and clean eating to start, I’m sure there is more that I’m not thinking of yet. I have put me at the top of my to do list.
Number one was easy, we have adopted Meatless Mondays pretty easily, even Ben doesn’t seem to mind.  I continued trying a new recipe each week, sometimes more than one (only downside is less room for favourites).  I got at least 20 minutes of activity every day and if we take out one day (the one I did 20 😛 I got in more than 40 minutes each day).  Blogging and Journalling remained strong, if anything they got stronger as I moved to my own domain and started following more blogs regularly.  I lost 6.4 pounds or 1.4 more than my goal.  I did manage to make it onto my to do list.

This month

1. To eat vegetarian completely one day a week. (old)

2. To try a new recipe each week. (old)

3. To enjoy some form of activity every day. (old)

4. To lose 5 pounds. (old)

5. To cut out artificial sweetners, so no yogurts, juices, sodas, coffees, etc with splenda, nutrasweet or the like.  If I want something sweet it have to be from something that grew, either fruit or <gasp> real sugar, honey, molasses etc.

6. To beat my 5k time and try to run the whole thing (I will except the hill if needed)
