I ran 10 minutes straight! January 28th Food and Exercise Journal

Ate 24 of 25 points. Earned 6 activity points.

Breakfast(5) –steel cut oats, egg white, yogurt, blueberries, maple syrup (yes, all mixed together it is yummy)

Lunch (7.5)–Beef, Mushroom and Barley Soup(5.5), yogurt (2)

Snack(3)–Tortilla chips

Dinner (10)–Leftover chicken enchiladas (8), salad with salsa vinagrette (1),  green beans with butter (1) ****you can really make the butter stretch by using 1 tsp of butter per serving and 2 Tbsp of water the beans steam and sautée at the same time they are still crunch and the butter and water run together so that the butter really gets spread out and all over ALL the beans

Feeling better but  still a little stuffed up and running is hard when you are stuffed up. But I still did week 4 day 3 of couch to 5k  I did 2.25 miles in the 31 minutes of the program then finished the remainder in 42 minutes (3.1 miles).  My first 3 minute run was a breeze, my first 5 minute run was ok, I got a stitch in my side but I got rid of it on the walk portion.  Then the second 3 minute run OMG misery, I really didn’t think that I could finish my run today, or that the second 5 minute run I would have to slow down even further but colour me shocked the second 5 minute run was dare I say, EASY??? I reached 5 minutes and felt good so I figured let’s go one more, then another etc.  I ran 10 minutes for my final run segment. I think I could have gone more but I do have the 5k on Sunday and I didn’t want to risk injuring myself and not being able to run it.  Sunday I plan to push myself and see what I can do.

For breakfast I had steel cut oats cooked super slow with 1/4 cup eggwhite in place of 1/4 c water.  I added non fat greek yogurt, blueberries and maple syrup for a tasty protein packed breakfast.  For lunch I had leftover Beef, Mushroom and Barley Soup. For dinner we had leftover chicken enchiladas, salad with salsa vinagrette and green beans with butter.

I went out and had tea with a friend and did grocery shopping and did some walking when I was home.  I am looking forward to a nice long hot bath tonight 🙂
