So I have not been in much of a blogging mood and I started a book which led to me finishing the whole trilogy with each book over 600 pages, not much time for blogging
Thursday I had the second part of my sequential screening and I got the results today with my chances of having a downs baby being 15,000:1, the average for my age is 150:1, so I’m pretty happy with that. I will probably not have an amnio with those odds since most other age related abnormalities can be found with an ultrasound, apparently. One more ultrasound is scheduled at this point. But the baby decided that it didn’t want me to know its sex, grrrrrrr. Yes, i know in the olden days women didn’t know until it was born but I am a planner and I HATE not knowing, although I might tell people it’s a boy anyways so no pink invades my life. Grumble grumble, the baby was all high energy and moving around until it was time to look at gender then it sat cross legged, taunting me like a little puka! Hopefully on August 2nd we will know for sure, they were 85% sure it was a girl at the first one but that was 13 weeks so too early to be really sure.
I had a midwife appointment last week as well and broke down in tears when discussing weight and weight gain. The midwife asked how I was feeling about gaining weight after having lost 75 pounds and that was it I just burst into tears. She told me it is perfectly normal to feel this way especially when you can’t feel the baby move and that unless I continue to feel upset about the weight gain after that point not to worry about it. If I do I need to find someone to talk to. So yep I still think weight gain sucks, still don’t entirely buy that I can’t properly nourish my lard ass body and a baby if I eat well but fine I’ll gain some.
Ben and I are headed to Vegas for our anniversary, lots of good food and a show or two and lots of good food and lots of good food, did I mention the fantastic restaurants we plan to hit?
I don’t go to Vegas for the weather or the gaming I go for the food and the shows and I’m looking forward to it. We are leaving on a Thursday and coming back on a Monday, can’t wait. 10 days!
We got each other anniversary presents already. One year is traditionally paper but well paper is boring so we got each other Barnes and Noble Nooks! Like them so much better than Kindle. More titles, we can borrow electronic books from the library and put on our own books so we might own a few pirated electronic books, but only ones we already own, before anyone wants to get all self righteous on me
I also like that you can lend books to a friend for 14 days, to either read on their nook or computer or Iphone/Ipad/Android app, very cool. So I have loaded it with books for our trip.
As for what I have been eating I’ll leave you with some photos for fun.
Yes, you read that right 10 minute (start to finish) risotto. I made it in the pressure cooker and it tasted fantastic and the texture was perfect!
I used light sour cream and cheese for the filling, tasted great and super fast in the convection toaster oven. I had to give Ben my steak as my body doesn’t like big chunks of red meat at the moment, or big chunks of meat in general, pork seems to be an exception.
This peanut noodle salad was amazing! and took no time at all The boneless short ribs were an already marinated Trader Joe’s find.
A little of this and that in the orzo, very filling and tasty.
